Kip wanted to go to the Moon, but he didn't know how he was even going to afford college. So when Skyway Soap offered a contest with a grand prize of a free trip to the Moon, Kip was determined to win. With the careful organization his father had taught him, he proceeded to shower the company with entries. Surely he couldn't lose.

Kip was a winner, but because he was one of eight people to submit the winning slogan, the grand prize winner was selected by a random drawing. As a consolation prize, he got a real spacesuit, along with a message that he could return it to NASA in exchange for a cash prize. The money would be useful for college, but first he wanted to enjoy the dream his spacesuit represented.

Kip carefully put the old spacesuit back into condition, then takes it out to his back yard for an imaginary Moon mission. But then he receives a response on the spacesuit radio.

The next thing he knows, he is in the midst of an interstellar conspiracy, helping to rescue an alien police officer from a race of monsters who want to take over the Earth. But the enemies of Earth's enemies are not necessarily our friends, and long-held power has a way of making one arrogant.
