The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov

Published by Bantam Spectra

Reviewed by Leigh Kimmel

Detective Lije Bailey solved the murder of a Spacer on Earth. Now the Spacers want him to help him with a murder of their own.

Murder is unknown on the idyllic world of Solaria, where the robots far outnumber the humans. Adult humans don't even see one another, instead interacting entirely through holoprojection, an activity known as viewing. But the unthinkable has happened and a man lies dead by another human being's hand.

To work effectively on Solaria, Bailey must penetrate these restrictive customs and convince the reclusive Solarians to meet an Earthling in person. But Spacer prejudice is not the only difficulty Bailey faces. Like most Earthlings, he finds it painful to be outside the cozy confines of the Cities. But he is determined to fight that ingrained agoraphobia to do his job.
